Elizabeth is the creator of an adorable little shop on Etsy called Emma's Gems. She makes amazing jewelry, and has some great vintage items as well. Here are some of my favorites from her shop.
I asked Elizabeth a few questions about herself and her shop, and here's what she had to say.
Tell us about yourself. First and foremost, I’m a mom to a gorgeous 17 month old daughter and wife to my best friend and soul-mate. During the day I crunch numbers as an accountant, but at night my creativity runs wild. In college I started making my own jewelry and things took off from there… I eventually started an Etsy store – Emma’s Gems (named after my daughter). Lately, I’ve been adding vintage jewelry, upcycled (refurbished, vintage) décor, and shabby chic farmhouse items. I also have a line of shabby chic pillows designed – now I just have to find the time to actually make theml!
What inspires your creations? Everything that holds beauty – whether it be a gorgeous sunset, a butterfly in flight, or my daughter laughing. There’s a little bit of love in everything that I sell or create.
Who has inspired your creations the most? My parents!! My mother was very inspirational in her love for expensive jewelry and vintage finds – good taste runs in the family! My father loves the outdoors, especially geology, and I learned quickly that beautiful stones (that make beautiful jewelry) come from the earth! Digging in the dirt, I have personally found a variety of semi-precious gemstones such as turquoise, agates, topaz, and even the most beautiful garnets.
What is your favorite handmade item? My favorite handmade item. I had to think long and hard about this, because I come from a long line of creative people, but my favorite handmade item would have to be a black and white handmade quilt from my mother. It was made from love and designed to comfort… nothing could be better!
"Here at my Emma's Gems I'm trying to integrate my loves of jewelry, antiques and vintage finds into one comprehensive store of special little treasures. I’m just getting started and learning the Etsy ropes so stay tuned, because there’s more of everything to come and there’s something for everyone!!"I'm excited to also be hosting a giveaway from Emma's Gems!
